Comms Specialist
Mutlimedia content and other unique projects that I have worked on as a Communications Specialist with Syracuse University's Institute for Democracy, Journalism & Citizenship are highlighted below.
The Squeeze Newsletter
Weekly e-newsletter design
The Squeeze is the Institute for Democracy, Journalism & Citizenship's weekly newsletter that goes out to over 2,400 contacts. The open rate averages at 40 percent. I primarily work on designing the newsletter in Mailchimp, and copyediting each section.

Consistent multimedia posting
I created IDJC's Instagram account in January 2024 and have worked on all of the content since it began. The posts demonstrate my flexibility in multimedia content creation: graphic design, photography, and video editing.

Trust in the Information Age?
An IDJC co-hosted event
For IDJC's events, I often create a printed program. When we co-hosted an event with TIM Cooperative and former Meet the Press anchor Chuck Todd, I created a program website for a C-Suite audience to use. Though I don't have this in writing, I was told that Chuck Todd loved it, and I hope everyone believes it.
Pivot to LinkedIn
Post-2024 Election Results
I created a X (Twitter) account for the IDJC that quickly amassed over 500 followers. However, after the results of the 2024 presidential election, we lost over half of our followers as users left the platform. I made the decision to pivot to LinkedIn to forge stronger connections with our SU and DC based audiences.
Maymester Comms Plan
SU Student Athletes in DC
IDJC hosted 12 student athletes for a Maymester week in DC. It was an action-packed schedule that required strategic communications planning in advance. To coordinate amongst the various programs and schools involved, I created a comms plan. This plan also accounted for how to best amplify IDJC's civic teaching and programming.
SU DC Business Closet
A self-starter idea that's a WIP
As a secondhand clothing seller, I decided to take it often myself to start an on-site business closet for the SU students who are here for the semester. Students studying in DC are oftentimes required to wear business professional dress and have limited means for access. By leveraging the robust 20,000+ SU alumni base, I have organized a clothing drive in February 2026. Stay tuned!
Fandom & Democracy
Election Night presentation for
COM 300: Special Topics
For a special Election Night class that my boss teaches, I gave a guest lecture on the intersection of practices in fandom and democracy. The discussion also proposed how popular culture can influence elections, with specific regard to whether or not the 2024 presidential campaigns successfully attempted to make pop culture appeals to voters.
Belonging & Representation
Fandom, Intersectionality, and the Politics of Representation
For my colleague's communications class on media, diversity, and inclusion, I created a lecture that explained how fan identity is a constructed social identity that impacts how individuals receive and understand representation in the media.
Newhouse DC Instagram
Additional SU DC comms responsibilities
On top of IDJC's social media accounts, I also manage the Newhouse DC Instagram. This account's purpose is to promote the study-away DC program to students at the Newhouse School by highlighting the internship experiences and inspiring site visits.
